One of the most memorable ski vacations I ever went on I selected from a list of Canadian ski vacations and ski resort package deals. Not really knowing much about Canada or the skiing there, I selected a Lake Louise vacation option that included trips to the ski resorts in the area including Sunshine Village and an opportunity to go on a heli skiing tour. If you have never been heli skiing it is well worth it. A helicopter picks you up from a very central location at the tour center, then takes you far up into the Rocky Mountains and drops you off. I could never have imagined the beauty and sheer magnificence of skiing down the mountain on a natural powder base that was unmarked by other skiers. At the bottom of the run you can look back and see your amazing descent through the fresh powder snow, a real skiers dream.

If you are planning a winter trip to Lake Louise I would certainly suggest that you take one of the Canadian Rockies coach tours to the town of Lake Louise rather than renting a car and driving. While you certainly could drive, it really is more relaxing to sit back and enjoy the view and let someone else worry about road conditions. I know that I really appreciated the time to just see the mountains in their natural state, something I couldn’t have done while focusing on the road ahead.
