Identifying Crystal Meth vs. Cocaine

You’re a parent who has been snooping around your teenage son’s room and have discovered a bag of unidentifiable white stuff. You know that it must be a drug but you’re not sure what kind it is. You want to know all of the facts that you can before you confront your child about his possible drug addiction so you’re trying to identify which drug you’ve got in your hands.
If you’ve got a white drug, it’s probably either cocaine or crystal meth. Although there are other drugs that it might be, these are the most common culprits. Now you just need to tell the difference between them. In most cases, it’s relatively easy. If it’s in powdered form, it’s probably cocaine. If it’s more salt-shaped, it’s probably crystal meth. However, as either item may be cut with something else, this isn’t definitive.
Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter which one it is. Although cocaine is a more socially acceptable drug, a cocaine addiction can be just as damaging to the body (and heart) as an addiction to crystal meth. Although it’s good to know what the substance you found is, what is more important is what you do about it. Make sure that you talk openly with your child about your discovery and work with professionals in drug counseling to get him the help he might need.
