One of My Heroes

Ilchi Lee is the founder of Dahn Yoga, also known as Dahn Hak, and one of my heroes.  Although Dahn Yoga is criticized by some as not being "real" yoga, I think that’s part of what makes Ilchi Lee so important: He combined the principles of many schools of thought — yoga, tai chi, martial arts, and western principles — to create an exercise and belief system that helps his followers to explore the potential of their brains.

The name says a lot about what Dahn Yoga is meant to do.  The Korean word "Dahn" refers to the primal life force or energy, while "Hak" refers to the theory or the study and practice of the theory.  So Dahn Hak translates to "the study of the theory of the primal life force or energy."

Dahn Yoga is cited as healing and helping many conditions such as physical pain and diseases.  For instance, Dahn Yoga is supposed to be able to cure and/or relieve symptoms of:

  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Back pain
  • Shoulder and neck pain
  • Insomnia
  • Obesity
  • Stress and tension
  • Aging

There are many other things that can be accomplished by tapping into our brain power using Dahn Yoga.  With this kind of success, Ilchi Lee’s teachings have become popular throughout the Eastern and Western worlds.  For instance, you can find Dahn Yoga in Chicago, New York City, and major cities throughout the United States.
