Keeping Track of My Growth Spurts
By ISO in Health | 0 comments
When I was a kid, my mom used to keep track of my sister’s and my growth spurts by marking our heights on a wall. If you look at that wall now, all the marks are still there, each one initialed and dated so we could see how quickly we were growing taller at the time.
Of course, both of us leveled off and reached our full height pretty quickly. I think I reached my current height of five foot three and three quarters inches by the time I was 12 or 13. After that, I had no more height growth, though I did fill out a bit during my high school and college years.
I don’t really mind being short, but I still sometimes wonder what vitamins make you grow taller. I know that the abundance of healthful food that we have access to in the United States tends to make people grow taller, but what exactly is it in the food that makes us do that? And can you really replace the nutrients you need with a little pill?
This made me think of something kind of scary. I wonder how much shorter I’d be if I hadn’t had access to good food and nutrients? I mean, goodness! I’m short enough as it is!!!
