Ensuring Safety with Fuel Transfer Tanks

Among all the different types of truck tool boxes, tool totes and trailer tongue boxes out there are units that require special safety attention: fuel transfer tanks.

With so many transfer/refueling tanks available both online and from your local retailer, you’ll want to be confident that the one you’re buying takes the maximum precautions to ensure your safety and that of others as well. The simplest and most important questions to ask when choosing a fuel transfer tank are: Does it have a Department of Transportation (DOT) permit and certification to carry flammables? and: Can it be used for refueling?

After you’ve seen proof that the Department of Transportation has granted a permit for the transfer/refueling tank, check to see if the product allows for reversing the pump and filler. The transfer tank should also have fully-welded baffles to prevent contents from sloshing around inside, as well as a commercial-grade prevent filler cap which locks safely.

Finally, be sure to choose a transfer/refueling tank that fits the make and model of your truck. Even the mounted toolbox should be customizable to fit your needs. Make sure you also have a solid one-year warranty on your transfer/refueling tank that warrants the product free from defects in material and workmanship.
